Ocean Arks International was founded in 1981 by John Todd and Nancy Jack Todd to create an ecological design science and practice adaptable to both rich and poor regions of the world. Much of its present work focuses on utilizing natural processes, through diverse constructed aquatic ecosystems, to treat municipal and industrial wastewater and restore contaminated bodies of water.
