Footprinting Across Your Community Program

Ecological Footprinting is a tool that was developed in the mid-1990’s to measure our impact on the earth, to make us aware of our consumption patterns of resources, and guide us to real ways to begin to reduce this impact.  Footprinting is used worldwide in schools, communities, industry and government to provide people and organizations an idea of how to live in such a way that future generations will inherit a planet rich in natural resources.

CELF staff members who have undergone Footprint Analysis Training are available to assist schools in starting there own Footprinting Committeee.  The Committee will study the significance of the impression their own school (or community, class, or homes) is leaving on the earth and look for ways they can reduce this mark, and encourage others to do so.

“No matter who you are - an individual, a company, a community or a government department - ecological footprinting will help you to make the link between your environmental performance (or that of others) and the carrying capacity of the surrounding environment. After all, what is the point of understanding your own performance if you can't relate it to environmental sustainability - including the often finite resources and eco-system services that life on Earth depends upon. "
