Ignite student interest to study and pursue career opportunities in related fields!

The most powerful approach to advancing sustainability is to ensure the next generation has the intellectual tools necessary to design effective products, processes, and systems. Introduce students to a range of topics and demonstrate how environmental, economic, and societal considerations factor into the critical decision making needed for the 21st century.

Think eye-catching and interactive! Think about a Worlds Fair format where students can gain hands-on experience with your field of expertise! Think like a middle or high school student who learns best and remembers most from stimulating interaction, rather than simply reading a display! Design a booth that encourages students to ask compelling questions such as: How do builders decide which materials to use during construction or how can materials contribute to a more sustainable building? Can we plan more responsibly yet support growing economies? What affordable energy solutions are available that will they address climate change issues now and in the future? How does an individuals consumption patterns and behavior affect populations and species across the globe?

Now think out-of-the-box and demonstrate your products, practices, or programs, or your classroom or school efforts, relating to one of the following sustainable issues or submit ideas of their own for approval:

  • Alternative energy
  • Clean or energy efficient  transportation
  • Climate change, mitigation and adaption
  • Eco-justice
  • Ethics and law
  • Global health
  • Green building
  • Green schools
  • Innovative design and product life-cycle
  • National Security
  • Peak oil and its implications for energy sources
  • Risk analysis: environmental, social, governance risk factors
  • Socially responsible banking
  • Sustainable and/or Fair Trade agriculture
  • Sustainable communities
  • Sustainable economics
  • Sustainability education
  • Zero waste
